Microsoft approves the injunction
The FTC has unveiled an injunction blocking the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which Microsoft supports.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a judicial injunction. The competition authority wants to restrict Microsoft’s use of Activision Blizzard.
In January of 2012, the FTC wanted to prevent the takeover by filing a case.
That is an extension of the FTC. Because both companies could take over the whole business right away.
According to the FTC complaint, an injunction is necessary for Microsoft and Activision that they can complete the proposed acquisition anytime.
Microsoft is currently fighting in the UK on similar terms. There is a complaint against the CMA, which blocked the deal in April. The company could take a leap of faith before July 18 until its end of the year.
The FTC said that Press reports suggest the defendants are seriously considering completing the Proposed Acquisition, despite the pending administrative and CMA orders.
Microsoft supported the injunction. This would only speed up the decision.
In response to the actual protests from the FTC, President of Microsoft said, “Addressing today’s cases against Activision in court for the purpose of the actions of the Federal Court would expedite the decision-making process.” That’s the benefit of everybody. We always prefer constructive and amicable path with governments, but we trust our own situation, and have a lot of patience to be brought forward.
