Blizzard will charge $15 for Overwatch 2s Story Missions

Blizzard announced that it'll be charging for Overwatch twos story content, but some people are not happy.

Want to catch Upwatch 2’s story missions? That will be $15 at least.

Blizzard announced the first batch of three Overwatch two story missions, called Invasion, on arrival this August. These co-op multiplayer missions will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto and Gothenburg, with..massive maps with complex objectives, and a detailed storyline that will guide you along the way.

People are not really happy with this move, but they may find a reason for it. In the end, Overwatch 2 had to feature a complete player vs. enemy mode, which was one reason for switching game engine.

But in May, Blizzard stated that this mode didn’t happen, and instead, they would fold the content into a multiplayer game. Did Blizzard confirm that the mode PvE would be a free addition to the game? No, where things get a little dirty. Some players had expected it to be free while others were bracing themselves to pay.

Even the price seems low, since a complete four-thirty-five dollars costed almost all three missions, and never any complete pvE mode. Yes, $15 doesn’t get you a handful of other items, but that’s still a little for what may be a chunk of the story. Blizzard says you can start your mission to save the world, so there is more to come.

Although Blizzard has stated the $15 is for permanent access, it’s not impossible for some of the missions to be played by anyone temporarily. Maybe they’ll return early to rotation (Invasion is part of Season 6).

The company isn’t looking for such a good deal. Cancelling the PvE mode suffocated some feathers and allowing these missions to live free would’ve helped smooth things over. Blizzard could have charged for other stories, but Invasion was a taster.

We hoped that cancellation of PvE would leave some players with plenty of goodwill. But I doubt the game would be fine for you. Now? We’re not sure and watch carefully to see how this impacts Overwatch 2’s future.

The content is being updated on August 10th, along with some extras listed here, plus will be shared on the PlayStation, PC and Xbox 360.
