Go play! Pokemon break out the silence on champion after antisemitic accusations

This is always appreciated.

Play! Pokemon has today issued a statement on an altercation last month involved an antisemitic symbol, and a video of the game has been released with a symbol of antisemitism on its hands. The player could escape punishment.

After claiming victory at the Hartford Regionals back in May, Rowan Stavenow was accused of antisemitic behavior when a video showed him with a swastika shaved on his head and a bragged shaved a swastika. He has apologized since this time, explaining that he wasn’t aware that the symbol was being shaved on his head.

Play! The Pokemon statement from the 12th of June addressed the situation, offering the community a guide to it.

Play Pokemon (12 June 2023)

According to the statement: “Play! Pokemon won’t take a punishment against Stavenow. They investigated what was actually done and concluded that the player didn’t play an active role in the crime. This means that the Hartford champ will keep his title and be able to continue a competitor on the circuit.

However, others involved in the clip were deemed to be responsible for this situation and may face long-term disciplinary consequences in the play! Program.

Following the statement, players and members of the community praised the company for its transparency on the incident.

I really appreciate the fact that @playpokemon’s transparency is evident in this situation, and it’s refreshing to see that I am a member of the Pokemon community informed.

Dot Esports spoke with Stavenow last month after the incident, asking him what his future plans would be like in the competitive arena despite the initial backlash. He said: After this season, im quitting when I am going to college. But yes, I’ll still compete for a world title this year.

Play! A deciding game today. The regional champion will have the opportunity to keep track of his target.
