Ben Husted, the Chief Marketing Officer of Ultimos, spoke to ESI to get an insight into the partnership, the platforms ideology, and what the firm is planning for the future.

Over the course of four years, Ultimo.gg has undergone a journey that has equipped them with a unique mindset and courage to act on it. Within the first month, the platform has seen an initial surge of over 13,000 holders. The firm has signed a partnership with BCFC.

Husted stated that this is an official partnership with BCFC and that they are going to offer a full, panoramic offering. This will include the creation of the clubs own team, training boot camps for the industry, and even sponsorship of a stand at the stadium. Husted said they were an absolute dream to work with.

They get our vision and where we want to go. It was going to be an extension of the club, giving them activation initiatives outside of matchday. Husted said that Birmingham had been collaborative from the beginning and had caught on to ideas.

He was happy that the club was willing to trust them. Husted explained that they trust us to bring this to their community. We were expecting to be pushed back but they were up for it.

Ben Husted, the COO at Ultimo.gg, thinks there’s a lot of education to be done for those who aren’t gaming. Sports teams allow non-traditional fans to be part of a team, part of a community, and that’s what they were trying to build. BCFC let us in to nourish it.

There are so many possibilities. Husted was confident that the club wants to become a true player in the esports sector, when it came to the goals for the deal. He wants to be one of the leading teams within the traditional sports sector.

For Ultimo, it’s world domination. Husted talked about the journey Ultimo.gg has been on and what the platform wants to achieve. When Ultimo was operating as a tournament hosting company, Husted detailed the firms change of direction.

There were different communities in different countries. He said that they moved to the digital side so they could do that. The team, led by co-founders William Henry and Tobias Gooden, started on the path to creating its tournament, streaming, and video sharing platform: Ultimo.gg.

The experiences of Nuvei and Ultimo lead to the creation of a new ideology for the esports and streaming scene. Husted realized that the industry is broken. The entertainment industry is similar to other industries where only the top two per cent are earning.

We want to give everyone the chance to earn. The Ultimo.gg platform is how we do it. It was rewarding people for engaging with the community, they weren’t hiding anything behind payment gateways, they weren’t charging 0 per cent commission on streams, and there was no unfavourable algorithm which means you have to pay money or become a partner to get a few views.

Ultimo wants to disrupt the video streaming and sharing market, which is currently dominated by YouTube and twitch. The gargantuan size of the task does not bother Husted. He believes the platform can do it.

Our mission and ethos are the same for every game out there. Husted said that ambition rings true and that we can do it. Ben said that they are here to disrupt the industry and they believe they can fix it.
